Number of women pilots increases

The Centre for Aviation reports an increase in the percentage of women pilots.

CAPA article, entitled “Women airline pilots: a tiny percentage, and only growing slowly, was published on August 7th.

Key take-aways from the article inlclude:

  • 7% of all US pilot certificates are held by women
  • 4.4% of US airline pilots are women
  • The US big three airlines employ the highest number of women pilots
  • EasyJet has a target that 20% of its new entrant co-pilots will be women by 2020, having achieved its original target of 12% in 2016, a year ahead of schedule.
