Meet the Board of Directors

Tom Hall’s passion for aviation was inspired by his father, a commercial airline captain. Co-founding Pathways to Aviation more than 20 years ago, he has dedicated himself to creating clear pathways for students to pursue aviation careers. Tom continues to support and promote opportunities for young people to explore and succeed in the aviation industry.

Mark Gunderson’s aviation journey began alongside his mother as she pursued private pilot lessons. A former USAF F-4 combat pilot with 186 missions in Southeast Asia, he has flown over 9,000 hours across the Americas. Along with his family, Mark continues to fly regularly and remains passionate about sharing the joy and opportunities aviation offers with the next generation.

Bob Larkin has decades of experience in general aviation as a pilot, instructor, designated pilot examiner, aircraft owner, and business owner. He is passionate about connecting young people with aviation opportunities and believes the energy and curiosity of the next generation will advance the industry to new heights.

Scott Gordon brings over 25 years of experience in aviation, inspired by his uncle’s career as a commercial pilot. He has spent decades exploring the industry and connecting with other professionals in the aviation industry. Scott is committed to helping young people navigate aviation career pathways by providing guidance, focus, and encouragement through Pathways to Aviation.

Josh Hartzog brings 18 years of experience in education, ranging from social studies teacher to Director of Signature Academies & Career Technical Education. He is dedicated to improving educational outcomes, building strategic partnerships, and helping students discover meaningful career pathways, including opportunities in aviation.

A former United States Air Force pilot, Phil continued his career in commercial aviation as a Legacy airline pilot and aviation leader, while also serving in executive leadership roles outside the industry. Now, he is committed to paying it forward—supporting and inspiring the next generation of aviation/aerospace professionals through Pathways to Aviation as they shape the future of our industry.

Paul McFarlane is Director of the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center at UNR and a longtime educator with 25+ years teaching in the Washoe County School District and university programs. A recognized scholar with international aerospace experience, he is committed to inspiring students to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace science.

Marily Mora has 30 years of experience in aviation and is passionate about educating young people on diverse career opportunities in the industry. She supports Pathways to Aviation’s mission by sharing insights on scholarships, networking, and career development to help students make informed decisions and pursue aviation as a fulfilling career path.

Joe Rajacic has enjoyed a diverse aviation career as a flight instructor, engineer, A&P mechanic, NASA test pilot, corporate pilot, and Boeing 747 Captain. Now retired, he dedicates his time to mentoring young people and supporting Pathways to Aviation in connecting students with meaningful career opportunities in the industry.
