Aviation Workshops
Discovering a future career should feel exciting. And few industries are as exciting as aviation!
That’s why, in addition to the once-a-year Soaring to New Heights event, Pathways to Aviation plans to host 4-6 smaller, more intimate workshops for students to learn more about aviation industry careers. These workshops will inform students about specific career paths, from technical to administrative, but they aren’t just informational. They’re meant to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students imagine themselves as part of aviation’s future.
What to Expect at a Workshop
What to Expect at a Workshop
Each workshop will highlight a different aviation career, giving students the chance to explore a wide range of roles beyond the ones they may already know.
One workshop might focus on becoming a drone pilot, showcasing how unmanned aircraft are used in fields like emergency response, surveying, filmmaking, and environmental research. Another workshop might spotlight aircraft painters, demonstrating how skill, precision, and creativity come together to protect and customize aircraft. Others may feature aviation maintenance mechanics, avionics technicians, airport operations professionals, or aerospace engineers — careers that are critical to keeping aircraft safe, efficient, and ready for flight.
What makes these workshops especially exciting is their hands-on, real-world approach. Students don’t just hear about careers; they experience them. Workshops often include live demonstrations, interactive activities, and opportunities to see tools, equipment, and technology up close. Students might watch a drone take flight, learn how aircraft components are inspected, or hear firsthand how a professional got their start in aviation. These moments help bring careers to life and make them feel attainable, not abstract.
Another powerful element of the workshops is their small size. By limiting attendance to 20 or fewer students, students have the chance to connect directly with aviation professionals. Guest speakers share their personal journeys, talk honestly about training and education, and explain what a typical day on the job looks like. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore different paths, and learn that there is no single “right” way to find success in aviation industry careers.

Connecting with Opportunities in Aviation
Connecting with Opportunities in Aviation
By offering multiple workshops each year, we give students repeated opportunities to explore, learn, and grow.
A student might attend one workshop and leave intrigued, then attend another and feel truly inspired. Over time, these experiences can help students clarify their interests, identify strengths, and take meaningful steps toward education, training, or certification programs that align with their goals.
Ultimately, these workshops are about connection; connecting a student with the many possibilities and paths before them. Whether a student loves technology, working with their hands, solving problems, or thinking creatively, attending a workshop demonstrates that there is a place for them in aviation. It also creates connections with other interested students and professionals, building a community that can help students feel supported on their personal career journeys. At Pathways to Aviation, we believe in growing and supporting our aviation community, and we invite students — the future of the aviation industry — to become part of that vibrant community.
