The 2019 Futures in Aerospace career mentoring series far exceeded all expectations and forecasts! A record number of career-aspiring students met outstanding industry leaders and prepared for successful careers.
In its third year of existence, the Futures in Aerospace program established new bests, including
- Number of students – 104
- Number of speakers – 28
- Number of workshop locations – 3
- Number of workshops – 12
- As a new category…number of connections – 211
And, students were presented with four internship offerings!
The quest of the program is to prepare high school and college students for outstanding and rewarding careers in the aerospace industry. This is done by introducing young people to industry leaders, providing mentoring guidance, teaching career-readiness best practices, and enabling students to showcase themselves at networking receptions.
The workshops (aka Flight Plans) were conducted at three incredible airports: Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Carson Airport, and the Truckee Tahoe Airport.
The success of the program can be attributed to the strong relationships with school districts, individual schools, industry leaders, and the airports. The ability to host the workshops and provide a specially-designed career workbook are possible thanks to our generous sponsors: ISTAT Foundation, E.L. Cord Foundation, Truckee Tahoe Airport District, and Click Bond, Inc.
This year’s Flight Plan series has been encapsulated in a 12-page Year in Review.
