The ISTAT Foundation makes a significant commitment to expand our Futures in Aerospace program.
The International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading Foundation is funding a grant which provides aviation career mentoring an increasing number of high school and college students throughout the 2018/2019 school year.
The Futures in Aerospace program offers aviation industry speaking events in multiple locations, which double as career-planning workshops for high school and college students. Each session features presentations by aviation executives, who share their experiences, descriptions of their company specialties, overviews of hiring practices, and career-focused advice. In addition to the presentations, students receive career planning best practices, such as skills identification, resume writing, interviewing tips, and networking instruction. As a result, students are more prepared to meet aviation executives and recruiters at the large networking reception, with resumes in hand, creating strong first impressions, conducting meaningful dialogues, and taking strategic next steps. If all goes well for the students, they will obtain job shadowing, internship, and part and full-time employment commitments.
“This is incredible news!” says Eric Henry, Pathways to Aviation board chair. “We’re very appreciative of ISTAT’s support of our ever-expanding program to educate young people and, at the same time, provide meaningful pathways to careers. Our partnership with ISTAT means a great deal, not only to our organization, but the thousands of students with whom we interact throughout each school year.”
