Effective Monday, February 22, the name of the organization is Pathways to Aviation.
The organization was founded in 2004 by the Reno Air Racing Association to provide aviation education at the annual National Championship Air Races. Its presence at the Air Races grew each year until 2016, when its Aviation Learning Center covered roughly 2.5 acres of the Reno-Stead Airport campus.
Soon after the 2016 Reno Air Races, the Board of Trustees voted to expand its mission to also focus on aviation workforce development. The organization added the “doing business as” name of Pathways to Aviation to represent the new vision.
“Our relationship with the Reno Air Racing Association is strong. We’re both committed to aviation excellence and positive impact in northern Nevada, as well as the entire aviation industry,” says Pete Parker, executive director of Pathways to Aviation. “We look forward to supporting the Air Races as they return to action in September.”
The future is bright for Pathways to Aviation. Schools, students, job seekers, and employers covering 37 states and six non-US countries use the organization’s career readiness portal.
