Thanks for being an important member of the Pathways to Aviation community. We’re continually seeking ways to connect young people to the aerospace industry and guide them towards its amazing career opportunities.
Below is a simple update on our latest activities.
Visiting with students
We thoroughly enjoy visiting high school and college campuses to meet with students and educators. Most recently, we exhibited at the Sparks High Career Night and participated in Mock Interviews at McQueen High. Next on the agenda are mock interview days at the Academy of Arts, Careers and Technology and Reno High, and the two-day Washoe County School District Eighth Grade Career Days.
We’re hoping to visit many more schools, either by participating in career days, mock interviews, or by making presentations to classes.
We have a physical address!
Join us on Tuesday, October 29 at a special ribbon cutting, officially opening our new office in downtown Reno. The office has been made possible by Northern Nevada Community Housing and is located at 855 E. Fourth Street (near the Wells Avenue Overpass). We’re sharing space with Immunize Nevada.
It’s our first office and, though it’s not large, we have major plans in store. This will be the site of webinars, video interviews, resume reviews, professional headshots, and more!
The ribbon cutting is hosted by the Reno+Sparks Chamber of Commerce and begins at 12:00pm. Visit our new office and talk aerospace careers!

Youth Leadership Team Created
Our mission is to inform, inspire, and engage aviation’s next generation. When we finalized our latest strategic plan, known as 2020 Vision, we set on a quest to fulfill a very important goal…the establishment of a young leadership team.
We’re pleased to announce the formation of the Flight Team. This group of young leaders, a mix of high school and college students, is actively involved with Pathways to Aviation mission, vision, and programs. Established this summer, the members have been very involved with our Futures in Aerospace program, by providing feedback, revisions and suggestions, and expansion ideas. With their assistance and insight, we believe 2020 will be incredible!
Career Mentoring Workshop Registrations Open
The 2020 Flight Plan season is gearing up to be spectacular. Registrations for students and speakers are now open. All may click here to access the Futures in Aerospace webpage and click on the appropriate registration links.
The cost to participate is completely free. Also, students may participate even if their career interests are not in aviation.
Dates of the workshops will be finalized soon. The venues are the Reno-Tahoe International Airport, Truckee-Tahoe Airport, and the Carson Airport. Plus, it’s possible that additional airports are added to the 2020 workshops series. Visit the Futures in Aerospace webpage to learn more.
Career Planning Best Practice – Resume Writing
Did you know that most employment recruiters give each resume between 10-15 seconds of reading time?! Shocking isn’t it? But, when you recognize that recruiters read as many as 100 resumes at one time, it’s difficult to spend too much time on any one resume. For this reason, it’s important for job-seekers to submit easy-to-read and information-packed resumes.
